Hows abouts updating the firmware for 5 exposure bracketing (and while using the IR remote)? I am dreaming.
The update for that is called "Buy a K-5".

Thanks Salagubang! I think I will hold a bit longer and see if there's info on the benefits of this new firmware although it is great to see them still supporting the model. Although you'd think that it wouldn't be difficult for them to include a more comprehensive description of the changes.
Yes it's sad that the specific descriptions on the update were not included (only that they improved AF for DA 560mm). And improvements in the new firmware isn't really noticeable in the field. The old 1.01 is just as fast, just as good.

Maybe when Pentax were flocked with complaints of slow AF, its engineers created a good solution in the v1.01 albeit the codes are all over the place which they streamlined in the latest release -- bah! the programmer forgot to put the title Ricoh in Pentax (with some additions to the v1.02 for 560mm).

Little would matter anyway, Pentax engineers built an easy menu system for upgrading or reverting back the firmware, so people like me, which came to trust the old firmware can go back whenever we like.

So, what is the consensus? 1.01 or 1.02?? I just got my camera in this afternoon, put on 1.02, so I haven't had any chance to play around with 1.01. If there are enough folks that say 1.01 is the way to go, I'll just downgrade.

Noticed when playing with K-01 last night with a manual lens that on M mode, the EV button is stopping down and giving me an optical preview, which is nice because I have the green button for setting shutter speed ("green-button metering") and red button for turning focus peaking on and off and thought I just had to sacrifice having a DOF preview. Is this new to 1.02 firmware, or just I didn't notice it before? It is not in the manual.

Now if I could just get a preview in Av mode too without reprogramming the buttons every time I switch between a manual lens and a 'A' lens.

I just compared 1.01 and 1.02, and it's not new. (setup: M lens on both bodies, M mode, ISO manual).

Oh well, I found it anyway and I'm glad about that -- it is undocumented as far as I can tell -- maybe it came with 1.01?

Not sure about 1.00. Apart from saying 'some stuff won't work', Pentax has never bothered to document working with old lenses. It's understandable - they aren't selling old lenses, and stats show most customers never remove the kit lens.

So is the consensus to do the upgrade? I've been holding off to see if there are any "dis-" enhancements.

Same here. Wondering if I should go for it or not but I'm fairly happy with the current performance so I'm not in any real hurry.

Same here, and the 560mm isn't on my purchase list for the moment (even if it would fit well with my white K-01 ) so i think I'm gonna wait for 1.03.

Why is that 70-200 such a bear on the K01? Is it a particularly slow aperture?

Newest firmware for Pentax K-x

I am rather new to this business of Posting and Forums. This is my first time at this: Please help me find this newest firmware for my Pentax K-x. I saw yesterday that there is already 1.03. My Camera was registered in 2010 in another computer.

Now, I can't seem to find the site.

Please Help. I realize this is considered an older Camera already, but I am really pleased with it's performance. I also learned about and use the Enoloop rechargeables.

Yes, each newer firmware incorporates the fixes from the older versions. 1.03 has everything 1.01 and 1.02 had plus new stuff too.
