Any suggestions?...Does the 1.02 include all the updates in 1.01?
Definitely get off 1.00 immediately. That firmware was an embarrassment. Even with the 40mm XS lens, the focusing was slow and my camera would lock up every few minutes. With 1.01 the focus is much faster and the camera is MUCH more stable. I switched to 1.02 and have not noticed any differences. Focus seems the same speed.

Hrm, I have 1.01 for my Kx. I wonder what 1.03 offers.

Might just be placebo effect, but shutter seems to have less lag. Focus is not faster, but minor improvement in low light focusing (i think)

Whoah wuh wha? Someone at Pentax is expecting a K-01 user to get the 560mm?
Hand holding that long of lens is tough regardless of body attached. On a tripod, why does it matter what body is attached?

I think the point was that most K-01 buyers were sold on the low price. If you bought a camera because it was ~$300, you probably won't be interested in a $7000 lens to go with it.

The concept of a $7000 lens totally baffles me; regardless of the camera body attached.

I didn't spend that much on the car that I drive!

I moved the new firmware to my SD card, how do I get my K-01 to recognize the update?

There is a menu item for it. Goto the "wrench" pages -- page 3, bottom item, firmware options.

If the new file is in the root of your card as it should be (no sub directory), then you should be able to hit the right button on the controller again to get to the update. Double-check you put the file in the right place, and make sure it is the right file -- not for another camera. (You unzipped it, right? Should be a .bin file.)

Thanks! I dragged the file onto my SD card and it wouldn't work so I reformatted and then copied the file to my SD card. Voila!

Thanks for taking the time to help out.

Has anyone noticed any changes to the Video side of the firmware?

Clean Feed HDMI out in Video is far more important to me than focus speed - Manual Focus is a must for making any sort of short film.

Using my new (yesterday !) K-01 with 20+ year old glass that goes with the P30n I got for a 21st birthday present,... in 1991.

So far, rather impressed, even with the v1.00 firmware, the video performance is about the same as a 550D or 7D, with the rolling shutter skew being close to the 5D2.
Seems that as I learn the camera, the more default On functions I disable, the better the photo's and video look.

And to the question of why I would buy a $363 body to do video & film work,... I'm buying a BMD Pocket Cine and MFT to K-mount adapter next, and the Cine Camera with MFT mount after that, and Lo n Behold, the K-01 has the very same mirrorless form factor as those,... Good way to relearn my handling skills, no?

From the first nights photos,... a little minor post levels and gamma correction.
