I just asked Pentax USA, they said that it is NOT yet discontinued and will still be available for now.

With that said based on what I heard from CP+, it's going to be history very soon.

Lots of new stock is flowing into the US for K-01s as evidenced by B&H saying that one color was discontinued earlier this week only to have it reappear as available as of today. The K-01 I purchased last month had a build date, if I remember right, of early 2012. I do not think they are making any more as of now.

At CP+, Hiraku Kawauchi told PF member JPT that the K-01 is out of production and they are only selling old stock. It was not in the catalogs or on display in the booth.

One major outlet in Australia advised me they were sold out. Not sure if they would receive more, but I picked one up very easily in Sydney ordered and delivered in 2 days.

Not really, since the only other category is Digital Compact Cameras. The K-01 is more closely related to the dSLRs than any Optio or bridge camera. Maybe when they officially discontinue the Q, they will add a category for hybrids.

Well, the 01 didnt have a great reception. I mean, some people loved it, but more people didnt. Personally, I'm not a fan. I think the Q is a better partner to the K-5 than the K-01. (I wish Pentax would make a camera with a bloody articulating screen!)

On a side note, I'm surprised the Q isn't marked as discontinued. I thought I read somewhere they're not making them anymore? This is why I assumed they were selling off Q stock around the world.
