K-01 Manual Video

Is Manual Mode in Video just a tease or am I doing something wrong?

In my brain it seems as if setting the aperture/shutter/iso would lock that exposure.

The reality however is the complete opposite. It still just does whatever it wants. Minus adjusting the aperture since I was using an M lens.

What's the deal here?

If I set it at 1/60th f/2 ISO800 I expect my exposure not to change. It's as if the option to use Manual Mode is just a tease and it makes me very sad.

Does it simply not work requiring me to go back to the normal method of finding my exposure in Program Mode and locking it. It works if I have video set to P and hit the AE-L.

Granted I just got my K-01 2 hours ago, I've figured most of the rest out already though.

Edit: It also appears as if my EXIF data is not being transferred with Stills, at least according to the Pentax Utility. until after I Extract a JPEG

I'm going to assume it is in fact just a tease. I'm guessing the Manual Option is only for Interval or Time Laps Movies.

My brain put it all together finally. It works when it wants to. My brain that is.

I still don't know why the Pentax Utility will not show me the EXIF Data though. Still shows it fine for my K-5.

In Manual Mode and with an M lens the ISO is always in AUTO mode, unfortunately.
If you use A, FA, DA lens everything works as it should be.

Hope this helps.

Even with an FA Lens it gets brighter and darker on it's own instead of maintaining the exposure I wanted.

So, based on what I know now that I've had time to mess with it and research it, I understand.

Why the hell would they make it lens specific though, that's stupid!

So I'm stuck in Program and AE-L'ing it like I am on the K-5 and my old K-x. BAH!

can anyone confirm this ? i was about to get an old PK-A lens and hoping it doesn't auto ISO or at least offer AE-LOCK.

It works properly with my Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 which is a newer lens. It does not work with my Pentax FA 28-80mm.

I WISH it worked like it was supposed to fith my friggin old manual lenses!

It always works fine for me. Are you pressing the red button to record? Because that puts it on auto record, while pressing the shutter will use your specific settings.

I've tried it both ways.

Either way being lens specific is stupid!

Only K and M lenses do AUTO ISO. All other - A, FA, DA work perfect in Manual Video. Tested with A 50/1.7, FA 77/1.8, DA 40, DA21, A 35-70/4, A 35-105/3.5...
