Time for more K-01 lensporn!

My Black Friday Black K-01 finally came home from the shop, so here are some more shots of my Lens Buying Addiction collection mounted on my K-01 Buying Addiction collection: (pix link back to my flickr account, where I babble a little about each lens).

Pentax Ricoh (literally) and the mind control lens: Rikenon P 50mm f/1.7 and DA 15mm f/4 Limited:

Pentax lenses on the Pandatrooper: F 35-70mm f/3.5-4.5 and M 20mm f/4

Bubble bokeh and a pancake (mmm, pancakes): Cosina 55mm f/1.2 and Chinon 45mm f/2.8

Modern and vintage Sigmas (or, Autofocus and No-focus): Sigma 30mm/1.4 and Sigma 12mm f/8 fisheye

It sounds like the K-01 closeouts are scraping the bottom of the barrel. If you are still on the fence about getting a K-01, act now! Operators are standing by!

Thank you for posting this. I thought my LBA was serious, I see now I am not badly afflicted at all. I feel so much better I might just buy a new lens.....

Good stuff THoog. I like the FA 28mm on my white K-01.

I don't have anything online at the moment, but I'll dig something up. The Sigma was in the bag last weekend, but got replaced by a converson lens to do full-circle fisheye.

LBA is a painful affliction, isn't it? Fortunately, we all know what will make the pain go away... One of the joys of collecting / LBA'ing is looking at each other's hoards collections and saying "why'd they buy that?", while our own make perfect sense. I have four main themes: small lenses (the K-01 has really driven that lately), bright lenses (I do a lot of shooting in dim museums to feed one of my other collections), zebras (esp CJZ, because they are so frickin' cool!), and "fishy" (just because they're fun!).

I prefer the FAs' styling to the Fs any day...

12mm fish eye

I owned this lens for several years. It's kinda cool, solid metal with the lack of a focus ring and the solid disk apertures.
IQ is soft at f/8 worse at the conrners, only improves slightly at 11. Obviously very slow!

The good news is that it's effectively a full frame fisheye on aps-c and it was remarkably resistant to flare, because you know the sun will be in most of the pictures you take with this lens. Also since the apertures are perfect circles, there is no staburst effect, just nice, clean sun and a smooth transition without flare. With some PP I've actually printed a stitched 5 foot wide print that still looks good .. BUT ..

..since the Sammy 8mm/3.5 came out .. well there is no comparison at all, and I was able to sell the old 12mm and to fund the new 8mm up to 75% !!

I would only get this old lens again if it was < $50 just for the cool looking factor~

I have since two weeks the DA 10-17mm fish eye, so I still have to practice.

Okay, I will give Jatrax that the FA zooms are all over the place style-wise, and the Fs look better as a whole, but I still prefer the look of the FA primes.

I want a FA 31 Ltd, but I don't want to have to sell the rest of my collection to afford it!
