My K-01 is Acting Fishy

New Bower 8mm Fisheye....First test shots......awesome colors and lowlight capabilities....All of these were handheld.

My only issue with using this lens with the K-01 is that the focus peaking does not seem to work properly.....very hard to tell what and when something is in focus....so I have just been going by the ring markings.

Great images! My favorite of the bunch is the second photo - feels like the lens was made for a shot like that.

Nice shots.... Not as wide as I've seen. Maybe you've just composed very well.

I'm trying to decide between the 8mm and 14mm... Most of the 8mm shots on Flickr look too wide 'fishy' for my liking.. But your shots have swayed me.

Do you mean this happens with the 8mm FE or with other lenses as well? The reason for asking is that the depth of focus is so large with a lens as wide as the 8mm that perhaps that makes it seem to not work properly.

Nice stuff! That lens can be tricky to get sharp-sharp focus, even with a split-prism screen on a dSLR. Besides the huge DoF, it's more a sphere of focus, rather than a plane. I usually zone focus (<5 feet, ~ 5 feet, infinity) and sharpen it up if necessary in PP.

Trick is to visualize your lens as a circle. If you try and include a straight line near the edge of the circle, the lens must "bend" the line to make it fit in the circle. Thus, in a landscape, the closer you place the horizon to the top or bottom of the lens, the more "fishey" your photo looks.
