K-01 Power switch

My K-01 is very easy to be turned on unintentionally when I put it into a bag. Do you also have a similar problem that the power switch is rotated clockwise to "ON" by any obstacles inside a bag?

I had this a couple of times. Now I tend to keep the K-01 into a dedicted bag.

I use two bags. My fav is this one:
Lowepro Apex 100 AW reviews - Pentax Camera Accessory Review Database
It fits nicely the K-01 & DA40mm xs.

When the DA18-135mm is mounted, I also use this:
OP/Tech Neoprene soft pouch D-SLR Mid-size reviews - Pentax Camera Accessory Review Database

Importantly, do mak sure that you setup the auto power down to 1 mn: it will shut down automatically in 1 min if you move the switch on, and save your battery..

Hope that the info will help.

I have the exact same problem. I'm using a small holster type LowePro where I put the camera in lens down. Every time I move my hand out of the bag, after placing the camera, my finger slides across the top, firing up the camera. I usually notice, but do have the auto power down set, just in case

I had the same issue sometimes with my Yellow K01 too!

It is so easy to turn on I was thinking of trying to remove it and put it back with some extra rotation so that the off position is similar to the on position. Then you would rotate it further to turn it on.

I'm going to do some digging...

Yes, in my opinion, this is the (my) biggest ergonomic problem with the K-01. Not the rubber flap or the green button, those don't bother me in the least, probably because I don't use those all the time. But I touch that darned power switch every time I pick it up, pull it from the bag, stuff it back in, etc.

Yes, I've been surprised several times to find the K-01 was accidentally switched on after putting it in the bag. I don't think I've ever done this with a DSLR.

Never. My switch is not that loose. It takes some pressure to turn it.

I only run into this issue from time to time because I'm putting my K-01 with 40mm lens into a small pocket in my camera bag that was designed for a LENS and not a camera body. Sometimes I might accidentally flip the power switch but I excuse that as being a tradeoff for being able to squeeze my K-01 into a spot where my previous Pentax DSLRs (even with a pancake) couldn't quite fit.

Huh. I am surprised.

All the controls on my K-01 take an intentional, positive application of force. They feel very solid and the tactile sensation is one of quality. I have never experienced what you describe.

I've bumped the power switch on my K-01s, but I've done it on all of my dSLRs as well. Maybe a little more often on the K-01. It doesn't really reach my threshold for caring. Now, on my point-n-shoot, where it tries to extend the lens inside the pouch, it irritates me every time it happens.

The K-01 power switch is almost irrelevant, the camera goes to sleep in a minute anyway. The K-01 mode dial, OTOH, is solid, it does not click by accident. My K-x mode dial switches with the slightest brush. Try taking a photo when the dial has mysteriously changed to Video. That is SERIOUSLY annoying.

This has happened to me once or twice, but now I just place it into the bag by holding the lens and this doesn't really occur anymore. But I agree, the on/off switch is too much on the "stylish" side instead of being nice and flush like on DSLRs. I can live with it for now, but if they make a K-02 I hope this part will be improved.

I like the on-off switch because I can see at a glance if I've turned the camera off. It could use a little more tension, though... or maybe definite click-stop positions when you've turned it to each position.

Biggest ergonomic problem? So far (1 month), it's me. Keep forgetting to take the SD card out of the PC and put it back in the camera. But then, I'm an Irish-American, so this may be genetically-influenced behavior.

Don't feel bad about that. It's only time to seek help when you mistake the desktop PC for the K-01 and are stopped by the cables...
