I've got the 40 Limited up for sale and have shifted to the F35-70 for the K-01. Still fits in the small case I have dedicated to it too

I've mainly used the DA21 but tried the FA50/1.4 yesteday. It sure looks like it was made for the K-01
and the result are very sharp and detailed

I'd really like a 40mm and a sigma 8-16mm though.

Go away Bossa, you make me cry.

I've got my DA 21 Ltd specifically for the K-01. Pretty much stays on it all the time.

Bossa, I thought you ordered the silver 31 from CRK?

I just found a 35-70 in an antique store last weekend. How do you like it? I haven't really tested mine yet. Hard to get away from the primes.
Mine is in great shape and is very sharp, good colors, a bit noisy, and versatile. They sell for next to nothing and are FF too. I think a good cooy is a no brainer.

You, good sir, have impeccable taste in quality lenses!

The DA 21 used to be my most used but the FA 43 has slowly overtaken it in the last couple of weeks. Both are excellent!

They didn't have any way of ordering it at the time on the online store. When I spoke to Michelle and tried to change it she said it was too late and that they ordered a black one. I reckon the black FA31 looks pretty good anyway.

That DA40 is still yours if you want it Steve

I would now say my favourite lenses on the K-01 are now DA21, FA31, FA77 and FA43. DA*55 not far behind.

Maybe I should take another look at it Sandy. It was only the feel of the focus ring that put me off of buying it. It may well be normal behaviour for this lens but I really wouldn't know as yours is the only one I've tried..
What didn't you like about the focus ring?

I've been pretty happy so far with the F35-70 I picked up on the suggestions here.

That said, what do you use most often when you need something wider?

Just took my K-01 on its first museum shoot at the World War I museum under Liberty Memorial, with the F35-70, a 40xs, and an old DA 18-55 kit lens that I picked up cheap. 40mm was definitely too tight for most of the shots, and even the 35 low end was too tight too much of the time, so I ended up using the 18-55 for almost everything. Unfortunately, the lighting was so dim that it was very hard to work with in several spots - too-long exposures, focus hunting, and sometimes a complete inability to lock focus.

I also had the Q with 01 lens with me, and it could get a shot in just about every case where the K-01 couldn't (although the 01 was also too tight for good framing). I'm pretty sure the big difference was the f/1.9 aperture, especially given the smaller Q sensor.

So I'm thinking I need a faster wide-angle for that kind of indoor museum shooting, since the 18-55 couldn't cut it. I've been getting tempted by the DA 21 Limited, but from the reviews it sounds like it's still somewhat slow for that environment - and it's honestly more than I ought to be spending right now anyway, even if I can snag one of the under-$400 ones on fleaBay. I'm going up to Michigan with some friends in a week and a half, and we're planning on hitting the Kalamazoo Air Zoo and the Henry Ford Museum, so I'd like to have something better by then... but the trip is also absorbing a lot of my spare cash for the next month or two. <wry grin>

I was watching 28mm's from both Kiron and Sigma (Mini-Wide) on fleaBay, missed bidding on both because something came up right as the auctions were closing, and both ended up going for around $20; I'm really kicking myself for that. The Pentax-A 28mm is quite a bit more expensive.

Any recommendations?

At first I used the 40XS as a walk around lens with the K-01 but recently have found the DA 15 is great with the K-01 and sets up a nice compact duo with my K-30 and another prime. I pretty much know what I will get with the DA 15 and just zone focus on manual and often just look for 1 second with the K-01 live view

I really like walking around with the DA 15 limited on my K5 and DA *55 on my K-01 (or vice versa). Seems to work fairly well.

I essentially use only five lenses on my K-01: The DA 15, 21, 40 and 70 Limiteds and the DA 50 f/1.8. Of those, the DA 21 and 40 account for 80-90 percent usage. I have a DA 16-45 zoom, which I'm sure would work fine on the K-01. But something a bit smaller and lighter, like the DA-L 18-55 or the DA 18-55 II would be a better match.
