comet pan-starrs and K01

last night the clouds cleared and caught comet pan-starrs with my k01 and an old vivitar prime 300mm lens f5.6,1.5sec iso 1600.
The comet is very pretty withn the tail curved and fanning out. There was a hint of cirrus clouds in the sky and produced some noise in the photo.

That is a really nice picture. It's much better than the one I took a few days ago with a Nikon d3200. You'll notice that mine, even though my camera settings were similar to yours, is much noisier. I suspect that the larger megapixel count of the Nikon is at least somewhat to blame. I've noticed that the K-01 I got when the price dropped has a better IQ under most circumstances than the Nikon, the only exception seems to be bright sunshine. Live and learn. Now if I can only afford a few Pentax lenses.

k5 comparison

Here is comet pan starrs taken with my K5. 10 minutes earlier than above photo with my K01. Taken with a pentax smc 200mm F4. 1.5 sec, iso 1600. The sky was brighter. Only having a 30 minute window to take photos I had to rush my photos
