K-01 & MC Zenitar K2

I happened to buy for $16 mint MC Zenitar K2 for my Pentax K-01.

It it my first experience with Russian lenses (though I am Russian) and it is too early to share any experience and real world pictures.
But what really amused me was how naturally the lens fitted the camera. I doubt that Marc Newson even heard about the Zenitar brand
but design of both definitely has something in common even if there are 25 years between them.

That Zenitar really does look made for the K-01! What a great looking combo! I am eager to hear later about your experiences with them.

Nice! Are you sure it's that old, though? Last I checked, Zenit still sells these:

МС Зенитар-М 2/50

Cost is 1500 rubles (~$47). Man, that's cheap! $16 sounds even better.

I love Russian lenses. They take unique pictures, and look totally unique on the camera. I like how the Industar-50 (made in 1958!) looks on my K-5 IIs, though it's more of a study in contrast:

It's a little lopsided, but it makes the K-5 small enough to fit into my old bridge P&S camera's case. My Helios-40 makes the camera lopsided in the other direction, and don't even get me started on the MTO 11CA.

You should take advantage of the fact that all these wonderful lenses are in your country!

Must control... LBA... but it looks... so cool...

(My Industar 50 was made in '85 and looks pretty much the same as the '58!)

Yeah, it really does look good on the K-01! Never heard of that 50mm f2 lens, though. Can't wait to see some sample shots after you learn the ins and outs. Would be interesting to compare it to a Pentax 50mm f2.0. Looks like that Zenitar K2 has a pretty good near focusing distance.
I like my ancient Russian Helios 44k-2 and Industar 50mm f3.5, but have to use m42 adapter, which I dont like very much.

I found a short review with some sample shots for the Zenitar 50/2 M2s (M42 version - K2 is K-mount):

Its design goes back to late 80s of last century.

I've made some first test shots with MC Zenitar K2 (1st photo @F2.0, 2nd - @F4.0, 3rd - @F5.6) and must say that handling is nice, focus ring is smooth and easy to turn by one finger but not loose. It looks like the lens is good.

Plenty good! VIV LA RUSSIA! or something like that. Those Zenitars are sought after over on mflens.com everyone there loves them. And yes. It could be the only lens one would ever need

It would be rather narrow for indoor shooting for the "one and only" but it really delivers.

In fact the photos were automatically compressed while uploading. Originals are much better in detail and color.

I thought I had enough Russian nifty fifties... I guess not.

I like those pictures at the mall. No one tried to stop you? Last time I tried taking pictures at the mall (no creeper shots of people through windows or anything, just plants, fountains, and displays like you were doing), I got maybe five shots in before two security guards told me to stop. I know my "rights as a photographer," but the mall is private property. If they say no photography, you can't do it. (Tip to photogs in my area: if you want pics at the Chandler Fashion Center, bring a small camera.)

I'm not saying you were breaking the rules or anything. Different malls have different rules, plus things may be different in Russia. I'll be sure to try some more pics if I ever get to another mall.

Sounds like a job for the Q.
