Screen is not an issue for me, I keep mine on full brightness all the time and no real issues with battery.

Only complaint is wish the grip was bigger...

Upgraded to firmware 1.04.......using it, great fun so far around the house and family......who could NOT like this? (at THIS sort of price)

*grr* the white (and blue) ones are unavailable in my neck of the woods....and they're soo cool.

Btw., the K-01 is not a misunderstood camera - those who've held one do understand it perfectly, and I'm really looking forward to seeing a K-02 any day now

Uhmmmm, CP+ 2012 was 7 lenses and a controversial camera.

Well, I'm still pretty happy with the K-01 itself, even though some of the features of the K-3 have me drooling a little. I'm still planning to stay put with my two K-01 bodies for at least 6-12 months. But now that Ricoh have a very positively received APS-C DSLR under their belt with the K-3, I do wish they'd start to get a move on with the lenses. The "HD" refresh wasn't exactly groundbreaking and the 20-40 appears like a disappointment in most discussions I've seen. Meanwhile, others are moving fast, and Fuji especially have attracted my attention with their glass and sexy mirrorless offerings... I really wish Ricoh would at least release the two lenses on the roadmap: the 16-85ish and the 10-30ish...

I very much still like mine, great camera body in my opinion. I might start packing it with the kit lens in my bag instead of the Fuji X10. I've hardly used the 40XS, but love the body with the 21mm Ltd and legacy glass. Then I did just get a used X100...

That made me laugh. You know, sorry, but even at $300 I still don't like that camera. Nothing against the innards but that design is still about as ugly as it gets and for me it's total turn off. They could give me one for free I'd probably cover the body up with leather or something just so I didn't really have to look at it. It still reminds me of a plastic kid's toy cam and I don't mean that in a good way. It looks like something Tonka toys would sell for 5 year olds to go along with their dump trucks and that. Considering I usually like toy-like things, collect dolls and all you'd think I would like it, but I just don't. I wish you all joy of them but I'm just not impressed. I'd surely like to see the innards in a better body though.
As an LX user for 25 years, I find the design of the K-01, as close to understated as they have come to the LX in the digital world. To each his own I guess. I bought it for it unique capabilities with vintage glass. The design was a bonus.

Me too. There are those who like forward looking, stylish design, and there are those who don't appreciate it. I give Pentax a lot of credit for creating a piece of art that is capable of high quality images. Just wish they thought through its shortcomings a little better.

Well, I suppose the shortcomings are subjective and not fully understood until it's out and in the hands of thousands of users who then give the feedback.

I like the looks and feel of my K-01, although sometimes I wish I had been more bold and bought a yellow one.

A good chunk of the time that I shoot, I go out with a K3 on a tripod and the K-01 over my shoulder. With the right glass, it really does a great job and easier for low profile or odd angle shots that a traditional SLR might struggle with.

I agree Khalid, it is a beautiful design....unless your a hard-core traditionalist. I'm not sure it's ergonomics are the best, but overall its quite nice.

Just got a HoodLoupe 3.0 this morning for my yellow brick. Man... I wish I'd sprung for one of these sooner! It really does make a huge difference in high-glare situations. In some ways it's better than having a built-in EVF, at least for those of us who are generally comfortable using the LCD instead of a viewfinder.
