The chattering glasses ?

I say folks, can someone explain why the iris on my FA50/1.4 keeps
opening and closing as the light changes ?
M Av and Tv, any aperture setting...I thought this is why we have A lenses to keep the blessed eye open ?
No stopdown metering required...
My only thought is it is protecting the sensor from being cooked
cheers
Pete

I imagine that's how it modulates the exposure setting on your screen? Since it can't change shutter speed beyond what the recording rate is.

(Just guessing here)

The K-01 does that to keep the image on the screen at the same brightness. The K-30 also does this in live view.

Good grief that's it. Explains why the view lags .
For some reason I imagined view level was sorted by the wee computer in there
