Overexposed shots using M-50mm 1.4... need help.

Hello!

I am enjoying my K-01 had it since December and am seriously thinking about branching out my little home business into producing short business videos like this one I recently made.

http://youtu.be/QlcU3K9_TS4

Apart from me being cinematography-challenged overall, I often have a problem with overexposed shots especially when using my Pentax M 50mm 1.4. I focus the shot and it looks okay so I start shooting but ten seconds in, the shot gets to washed out and ruins the shot. You can see a lot of this happen in that and my other videos.

Anyone experience this and can you share some tips?

Thanks!

FWIW, I also experienced overexposure problems using the M 50mm 1.4. Since that, I just use the "half-cock lens method" -- basically when mounting, you screw the M lens halfway to prevent the aperture lever from engaging.

Yes, it is for k-mount lenses. Just mount the lens stopping just about before the locking pin engages.

Note: Without the lock engaged, check that there's enough friction so the lens wont come loose when in use.

Are you shooting in M mode and using the green button to meter? It looks like the camera is making adjustments, probably ISO, after shooting begins. I don't think P mode will work with M lenses if that's what you're doing. The manual says exposure error may occur in Av mode as well.

You might try taking it off auto-ISO as well so the camera only sets the shutter speed.

I think I've finally found the solution to this...

I set the AE Metering to Center-Weighted a couple of days ago and it seems that I don't experience this anymore.
