Bug in the K-01 flash control
One of the hidden but very nice features of the K-01 is the very fast bursts possible by using bracketing and flash – faster than any Pentax DSLR (haven't tried the K-3). It gives you three exposures much faster than even burst mode Hi. This is very useful for example when trying to catch people with their eyes open (and probably mouth shut) during interviews.
But combining bracketing and manual flash output does not work – the camera simply locks up completely when you press the shutter, and can only be called back to order by removing the battery.
This happens with all of my flashes (see below). The 360FGZ may work for a while, but at least as soon as the camera has been asleep or shut off, is reactivated and you try to take a picture (or really, three) the lock-up occurs.
With TTL flash exposure this doesn't happen. However there are sometimes good reasons for using manual control.
This behavior has been replicated with different K-01 bodies, different lenses and different flashes. It doesn't occur on the K-5IIs either.
A case for a new FW update, which could include some other goodies as well.
