K-01 Strap + Lens P*rn

I haven't seen this strap here, but it's quite nice, the Camdapter Pro Strap. I was torn between the various colour options; the Chesnut and Natural look great and the Red would be hot with the K-01, but in the end I went with the Burgundy for my black K-01 and I'm really happy with the way it looks.

The Manfrotto-compatible tripod plate when pushed forwards helps with the balance of the K-01 and with smaller lenses the body now sits flat on a level surface instead of falling forward and resting on the lens.

The Burgundy strap looks really classy and even matches the dark-red focus scale on my Voigtländer lenses.

The K-01 of course looks great with the Voïgts, K-A lenses and DA Ltds, as illustrated! (Shown: Voigtländer Nokton 58mm f/1.4 SLII, Voigtländer APO-Lanthar 90mm f/3.5, Pentax A 28mm f/2.8, Pentax DA 15mm f/4 Limited)

Actually the Voigt's suites the camera the best aesthetically. They got a similar look to them with their blocky minimalistic looks.
How do you like the 90mm? It's the only one still available new here in Sweden.

I like all my babies.
  • The Voigt SLII looks great since the knurled black rubber focus ring matches the grip on the K-01.
  • The Voigt SL looks great since the knurled silver aluminum focus ring matches the knurled silver mode dial on the K-01 and the RGB stripes almost match the red/green buttons on the K-01.
  • The Pentax A lens with it's mix of plastic, metal, rubber materials, 5 different letter colours and bright yellow lens dot has a lot of respective similarities to the K-01.
  • The DA Limited with it's knurled aluminum construction and green and red highlights also looks great (although I think it looks better with the white or silver K-01 and their black knurled mode dial).

The Voigtländer 90mm APO-Lanther SL is a tiny stunning jewel. Really small for a 90mm lens and built with a solid all metal and glass construction. Bitingly sharp at every aperture, exacerbated by incredible contrast and ZERO chromatic aberrations.

If you can find it, the SLII version might be even more desirable as it has better coatings for digital and should include the close-up diopter lens.

Really beautiful, the lenses as well as the photos you took with them. And the strap is pretty cool, to, fits in that combo. Yeah, its amazing how the K-01 looks good with almost any lens. It just always seems to "fit." Especially in this case, where the letters on the lens fit the strap, and the colour scheme of the lenses fits the camera body.
And those Voigtlanders.. man... do I envy you

I got two to share, I havent shot much digital lately besides with my iphone, I like these lenses better on a full frame or film body but the IQ is amazing on the K-01.

I love the aesthetics of that strap. How's the ergonomics while in use?

No complaints on the ergonomics, in general.

A few notes:

The location of the exposure-comp and red buttons are annoyingly behind the strap mount and therefore cannot be easily accessed with the index finger like other Pentax bodies when any strap is in place and it's worse with shorter strap of the hand-grip. But this is a fault of the K-01 layout. I quickly got used to using my thumb to press them.

The tripod plate on the bottom (when pushed all the way forward as in my photo of it) extends forwards and allows the K-01 with smaller lenses to sit level on flat surfaces, an improvement over it normally tipping forwards onto most lenses. The Distagon 25mm is a bit too nose heavy, and the exception.

My main complaint is that (i) the tripod plate is unnecessarily wide and covers the battery door and must be loosened to access the battery, and (ii) the tripod plate screw unnecessarily requires carrying around an allen key (instead of a coin-friendly slot or thumb-friendly D-ring). Fortunately a 4mm allen key fits and I usually have a bike multi-tool around.

Thanks Dave, I think i'm going to pick one up in Burg or dark brown, not sure yet! And then get a different plate, amazon's got a few that may work out well, smaller too.
