Helios 44-2 58/2 M42 (Test Shots)

Finally received my Helios lens from Russia today after waiting more than two weeks from time of shipment. Lens is in very nice condition considering it's from 1979 and I finally got to try out my official M42 mount adapter on the K-01. I was attracted to this lens because of the rather distinct swirly bokeh it produces when shot wide open and so far I'm not too disappointed with the results I've been getting. Thought I'd share a few of the test shots from today. They were all lightly PP in LR4. I'm excited about the creative possibilities when composing with this lens. Also might be looking into getting a Lensbaby sometime down the line.

Great test shots. Re your PP in LR4, I remember looking at my very first 44-2 test shots with surprise that they didn't have the vivid colors and bokeh contrast of the 44-2 photos I'd seen on this forum.

Non-multi-coated lenses can produce quite a dreamy, sometimes muted look away from the point of focus. So I jazzed up the images on the pc, and voila, vivid colors, contrast and bokeh! To this day I continue to have fun re-processing the images to create new effects, and the great thing about Helios images is that they seem to handle a lot of processing very well.....

Thank you. I also very much enjoy processing images and the shots that I have been getting thus far with this lens have been quite pliable in this regard.

Much appreciated! I'm beginning to love mine!

Here's a few more images from the local market.

Been shooting mostly wide open to try and push the bokeh and get a feel for the lens.
