Solving the cap problem on the 40mm XS

The cap on the 40mm XS is so not secure and it can get knocked off too easily. I decided to solve that problem and started by retiring my original cap. I found that the lids of some jars are the perfect size to cover the whole lens. Here's my solution to the cap problem. All I had to do was shave off the threads inside the cap until it fit quite snugly. The added bonus in my case is that it's a color match!

Add a hole with a 27mm filter on front, a gasket on the back and you have a weathersealed system

This is the silliest thing I've seen done to a camera in a long time.

It's brilliant. I must copy it.

Weather sealed unit.

carrrlangas, you've taken my idea to the absurd and I love it!! I bet it would work too! No time to work on it right now, but I will try it when I get time. Has anybody else tried it?

Great idea. The great thing about this is that it should protect the entire lens. I just lost my lens cap, so I'm in search of a replacement right now.

Just bought a 40XS and it hasnīt arrived yet but I was thinking about Weather sealing it, so your idea came in good time.
The difficult part is fixing the 27mm filter to the cap because when you turn it into the lens thread there will be a great ammount of force on that union.
