K-01 v K-05 shutter sound

A question for those who own both the K-01 and the K-5.

I was just wondering how the shutter sounds compare. Which is quietest and is there much difference?

K-5 is the most quiet one for sure, it probably has the most quiet shutter of all DSLR's.

The K5 is the quietest no question but I don't have a problem with using the K01.

I don't really notice the shutter on the K-01... until I use the K-5, which is much nicer.

Hard to compare these cams. One has a mirror, the other one doesn't.

You'd be surprised at how the k-5 compares

I have both cams. The K-01 is pretty quiet. Party due to the fact that a mirror isn't slapping around.

A few of us will race to make videos - good thing I have a Q also for that!

Here we are - a highly unsophisticated test with K-01 and K-5 in 3-bracket shooting mode, with Q filming the action!

Unscientific studies show the K-01 is higher-pitched but quiet, the K-5 more muffled despite lifting and lowering the mirror. It should be noted that if you are waking the K-01 from sleep mode, the shutter-click occurs as it gets itself ready to shoot again. And I could have made it worse by setting this up on a table to conduct the sounds better, but I tend not to do that in real life.

I'm not sure why this should make them hard to compare. It might be a reason to think the K5 should be louder, but to say the K5 is louder would be to make the comparison (and also that doesn't seem to be other people's conclusion anyway).

More generally, if I asked which camera was better, it seems that we could say that two cameras are so different that they can't really be compared. But volume seems to be one way in which cameras are commensurable. (Although there may also be issues of the qualities of the sound, as well as just the volume.)

Thanks everyone for your responses. And thanks, particularly, to jimr-pdx.

And the pentax Q - that's a quiet camera. Indeed, that's a silent camera, if using the electronic shutter. I know there are disadvantages with the electronic shutter, but it would be nice if you could choose to use the electronic shutter with any lens to get silent shooting (on the Q or K-01).

I assumed the K-01 was more quiet... I'm ready to eBay mine. I'll have to compare before I box it up.

The K-01 is with some lenses noisy, but with FA*85mm (wich is a very solid lens) it is nice quiet. I think part off this is that the big open space without mirror can work as a soundbox and making it louder. The K-5 wins, but then there is also your mirror.
