Phoenix/Cosina 28-210mm f/4.2-6.5 on a K-01
I really like my AF Phoenix 28-210mm MC 1:4.2-6.5 Aspherical IF (with 67mm filter ring). It's reasonably sharp, especially considering it's a super-zoom. The color rendition is beautiful - colors pop, are saturated nicely, and the contrast is good. It has some purple fringing, but it's not too bad, and can be fixed in post easily. Plus, I paid $45 for it brand new, so I'm very pleased all around.
It is however, a middling autofocus performer on the K-01. In good light it focuses okay. Sometimes it misses focus for no reason, but for the most part it's there. But as sunset starts to set in, it gets more and more difficult to focus at medium (portrait) distances. The focus assist beam comes on, but it's not quite dark enough to use it yet, and the distance is such it's not really effective. Close distances it still does okay, usually, until the light really starts fading. Indoors, even in good light, it almost always uses the focus assist beam.
So, great lens overall, but if you're considering it because it's super light, and the silver matches the K-01 black and silver version, you're going to be somewhat disappointed with the AF.
On the K-x or K-30, this lens really shines, though. (Especially for such an inexpensive buy)
Charles.
