So does the K01 not work with Sigma APO EX DG HSMII?

I can't get a single shot to autofocus on the 200mm end. Every shot looks like the one on the left, OOF.

Contact Sigma. Provide them the photos and ask them if they can do a recalibration under warranty (assuming you have warranty). I had a Sigma 17-70 that refused to focus in live-view and with my k-01, and they had fixed something (associated with the GMR sensor?) that allowed it actually focus.

Also, make sure you have the latest firmware update on your K-01

I don't have a second camera to try it with right now, either, dammit. I think it's a K-01 problem because I also had a Sigma 135-400mm that was bizzaro on the long end with similar result.

No warranty. Just got it minutes ago, used. It's pristine, too, and killer sharp on the 70mm end.

Yes, firmware is 1.05

Ah, if it's doing the same with another lens (non HSM) then try cleaning the contacts.

Yeah I have no idea anymore if it's doing that with multiple lenses. Do you have any other lenses, Pentax ones?

Pentax DA* 50-135 was perfect.

I have gotten some hits @200mm that are OK. That other Sigma that didn't focus well on the long end had that reputation so I chalked it up to being a sub-par lens on the long end and moved on...

Don't know, lots of threads about people having trouble with 70-200's on their K-01, including the Tamron, so... I bet it works fine on a standard body

I didn't have any trouble with my K-01 besides the Sig 17-70, that's why. And after they fixed it, it was perfect. As far as the Tammy goes, I have a Tamron 70-200 and the K-01 also refused to focus with that. Unfortunately I don't have warranty on my Tammy so I didn't try sending it in.

I've had trouble with the Sigma zooms on the K-01 but never had problems with them on the K-5. I sold all my Sigma lenses and replaced them with Pentax and don't have any problems with focusing on any camera. Unfortunately the cost is often a big problem between Pentax often only new and good second hand Sigma.

The long and short of it is some Sigma zooms just don't like the K-01.

Neither my Sigma 17-70 or 18-250, both with HSM, would ever autofocus on my K-01.

Never had trouble with any other lenses.

My sigma 70-200 F2.8 HSM II behaved very similarly on k5 like yours did on K01 . I sent it away to CR Kennedy for calibration .now it's fine . It has a very high hit rate on FocusTune calibration at zero mark. No further microfine adjustment required either on K5 or K5IIs.

Sigma APO EX DG HSMII?
Is that one of the newer lenses that Sigma sells a USB connected docking station for, to update the lens firmware?
If so, I think I read a couple of weeks ago that the Pentax edition of the Dock was now available.

I've got older full frame Sigma AF lenses, in the majority of cases of missed AF, it's in low light on mine. Plenty of light, and it locks in focus quickly.
