K01 for Wildlife?

We all know that the K01 isn't the ideal camera for wildlife shooting but can work in a pinch. A couple of pictures from hikes this summer when I had the K01 and DA 55-300 in my backpack. This combo is quite a light backpacking combo.

Dale, good job with the k-01 and DA55-300 lens. I find that the focus tracking mode in the k-01 to be quite good when I use the AE-L button to lock focus and then move the camera to recompose. Of course, it does not work with manual focus lens. I agree that this combo is very light for hiking and traveling.

Good job with the pictures!
I've found focus to be not so fast on long lenses and quite unpredictable in its outcomes... but your post proves that you can actually do something good with it provided that you have the skills (which you obviously do!)

Nice shots. I use my K-01 all the time for wildlife. The Sigma 18-200 is my walk around lens with it.

Because the K01 focus isn't up to DSLR standards, it takes quite a few photos to get a lot of keepers. With a lightweight lens like the DA 55-300, it works fine.

That's what I feared... but hey, a keeper is a keeper!

I must get one of those glass doors. It would improve my photography no end!

Nice shot, but Flickr thinks it was taken with a K-5 (and this thread's title is "K-01 for Wildlife")...?
