K-01 in pretty good company...

this was written a while ago and the first time I've seen the comparison but the specs are what they are...

The Pentax K-01, the second-best hybrid sensor - DxOMark

Yup.

At the risk of treading perilously close to rehashing previous K-01 discussions, the K-01 has some fabulous capabilities that unfortunately got pushed aside by the nature in which Pentax introduced the camera, and the knee-jerk reaction by hidebound camera intelligentsia who were put-off by the unorthodox styling.

I always thought the retro/modern styling (what would you call it? heh) looked pretty cool.
I suppose the "experts" have their opinions, but it is a shame that particular camera didn't continue and experience upgrades and improvements as technology advanced.
I do enjoy using mine.

A gem of a camera.
It's all the more shocking when you compare it with the 7D mkII (which however has other advantages, like AF and 10fps), as someone suggested in another thread...
I don't mind the looks, who cares if I'm not taken seriously when I can prove otherwise with virtually noise-free ISO1600 shots?

I learned to not care what other people say while using a K-01 and DA40 Ltd.

And I really think this sums it all up perfectly.

The review is from 2012, though! We need Pentax to release a K-02 for 2015 reviews!

As much as I love my new K-3 I'd kill for a mirrorless FF from Ricoh/Pentax. Even though it hasn't been that long I'm starting to miss shooting with the K-01.

I never got to like my K-01, much preferring the old Pentax ist-ds.
I think it is mostly because I don't have any DA or Auto-focus lenses here.

In another thread some time ago i put up a comparison of the raws from the ist ds and the K-01 with same lens on a color card.

:lolz - I'm the opposite, I have AF lenses, and rarely use them - My K-01 wears classic lenses 90% of the time, and even when the AF lenses are on, they're in MF.
