Manual mode no longer available on K-01

I have owned a K-01 for about two years and have really enjoyed using it. The other day I was going to use my 50 mm M 1.4 lens, but could not get the camera to go to manual mode. Instead of manual it gives me TaV when I turn the mode wheel. All the other modes work fine on the camera. Do I have some setting wrong? Will reloading the latest firmware do anything? In addition to the M50 1.4 I own an M85, M200, M100 Macro and would really like to use these with my K-01. Anyone else encounter this problem with their K-01?

Have you got the ISO set to auto? I think that's why it displays TAv. If you set it to set to a particular value, it should change to M.

Yep, press the ISO button and then choose a single number instead of an Auto ISO range (like 100-1600). Then you will have M mode available. On the K-01 an some other Pentax cameras, the M mode will change to TAv when you choose auto ISO. On other Pentax cameras, TAv is a mode available on the mode dial. One problem with the TAv implementation on the K-01 is that you cannot choose +/- EV compensation. But it is still a useful features, at least with automatic lenses.
Oh and the mode dial has to be on M, otherwise the camera will shoot wide open (it will say Av, you will get constant metering instead of just green button metering, but the camera will not stop down the aperture).

I've been caught by this also. M should be manual, no option for an auto ISO range, because that's actually TAv mode, which is provided as a fully separate option in the mode dial. It's a bit silly as it stands currently.

in M mode, it only takes an accidental press of the up button instead of the center OK button when selecting iso, to cause utter confusion.

The K-01 does not have TAV on the mode dial. TAV is only available through auto iso in M mode, and exposure comp. is not available in the K-01 TAV mode except through exposure bracketing.

Thanks to all of those members that helped me with my setting issue. I now have the manual setting working again on my K-01.

Not on the K-01 it isn't, Richard.
