Took the K-01 on a recent trip

Just a weekend trip to Florida, but the K-01 handled it well. Only have the 40mm 2.8xs currently so it was a little limiting, but nothing major. I do need to get a strap for it that won't dig into my sunburnt neck too bad.

Those are some handsome pelicans, give that last one a beret and a espresso and he'll look positively European. Great stuff.

That's a fine job for just a single lens and camera!

He's new to the forum, and has yet to realize that the K01 is a excellent camera. I wouldn't listen to the so called webpros who shut it down for it's looks, underneath the funky exterior lives a K5.

A slightly better than k-5 .
I've sold my K-5 after getting this camera.

Oh I don't think this forum is the sole provider enlightenment

To the OP:
I like the parrot and cloudscape images best.
I do think the first image of the pelican on the rocks is spoiled by aggressive sharpening though.

K01 Isn't the K30 a marriage between K5 and K01 ?

Yes I did. I was pretty happy with it myself. I was flying lite and it was between the K-01 or the Fuji x100s for this trip. Since I brought the Fuji with me last month, I decided it was the Pentax's turn.

I traded into the K-01 not too long ago(about 1.5 months ago). I haven't taken it anywhere with me outside of daily travels.

I really enjoy using the Pentax myself, and I will eventually get some other K lenses, right now I'm just very invested in Canon.

Hope everyone liked the pics! I use a Canon 40mm 2.8 often, so the Pentax wasn't too foreign for me. Only once during the visit did I wish I had a zoom with me.

I'm new to the world of Pentax but trying to learn up! I love the K-01 and the fun exterior of it. I use the Smurf brick myself, so it gets some looks while out.

I'm still adjusting to Lightroom edits with the images from it. Some can seem sharp, but I try to make a few creative tweaks and then keep the plain images saved as well.

He wasn't shy at all. He was on a mission, a fish mission.

A few spares

Daughter zoning me out. She actually had fun using the K-01 just as much as I did.

Nice photos.

I like the K-01 (my wifes) and think I might steal it a bit more as my K-5 seems to be developing a lot of hot pixels at the moment ?!?

I find the K-01 does a great job with exposure, AF accuracy and produces images that are a bit sharper (due to weaker anti-aliasing filter I believe).

Pity I probably wont be able to use it with my Tamron SP 70-200 f2.8 though (this lens hates Live View).

I sure did, you can clearly see the sharpening halos and the minimal noise ISO 800 should produce is now enhanced by it...
