oh hi again! (smc Tak 300/4)

Howdy guys, its been a while since I've posted. I just have too much fun with my Pentax gear to spend much time on a forum.

Anyway, I thought someone out there might be interested in a few shots taken with the K-01 + Tak 300/4 combo. It works a treat with an el-cheapo LCD viewer.

First 2 shots are pretty significantly cropped. The frog shot is at the minimum focus distance.

The first image is outstanding - a tack sharp bird on a background of an incredibly smooth bokeh!

You remind me of the best of what I have done with STak 300/4 and K3.

It is pleasingly sharp, like in your first.

Beautiful set! For no particular reason other than I just never thought about it, I have never shot with any of my Taks (including this one) on the K-01. You clearly demonstrate here that I am missing out on the opportunity to capture some excellent images. Thank you!

Thanks! Its helpful when the background is over 50 ft away.

I agree, the Tak is "pleasingly sharp", but the CA is pretty severe.

Get crackin'! Its a bit of a challenge, shooting tele with the K-01, but rewarding when you nail the shot.

I've the K-01 and the SMC Takumar 300/4 myself! Did you take these hand held or tripod mounted? I need to use my tripod more often :-)! Gorgeous sharp birds

Always handheld, I don't even have the tripod collar for the Tak 300/4. Since I generally need to use 1/500s or faster shutter for much wildlife anyway, camera shake is not much of a problem.

First shot is killer! Might have to pick up a 300mm one of these days.

The SMC Tak 300/4 is noticeably sharper than the DA 55-300 (I've owned 2 copies) and the various 70-300's I've owned. IMO its a very nice lens to have in your repository, especially for ~ $100.

Jeeze how hard is it to nail focus with this thing? I have issues with my 200M handheld as it is, I can only imagine this beast.
