3d printed Mode Dial for k-01

so after a bit of searching and annoyance at how easily this part is lost, i found a forum member with lots of 3d printing experience. he has been VERY kind as far as mocking up a 3d printer file in his spare time, still a bit of work to go, but this is essentially where its at
need to take some measurements of the dial without the cap etc. but this was done from the measurements provided in another thread on here.
with any luck a cheap replacement will be printable soon!

Great news. There will be a few takers. My own Mode dial has stayed on (touch wood) since I fixed it with silicon. But I was lucky it fell off on the seat of the car where I saw it.

Awesome, any idea on an estimated price with shipping? I'd probably take 2.

Anyone with a hobby metal lathe could turn on up out of aluminium. You could probably turn one up on a wood lathe out of a hard wood like Kwila.

Even if i don't have a K-01, it's things like this that makes me proud to be part of that community. People are just devoted and passionate about photography in general and Pentax in particular. Nice job !

Anyone still looking for a mode dial for their K-01? I made a couple and posted some months ago but no takers. Today I found a couple I printed, wrapped in a paper towel. Sat them down and forgot about them. Any way, I don't know anyone with a K-01 to test them on, so I don't know if the index holes is the correct size or correctly located. If anyone is willing to test, let me know!

Looks like I could use one. Would you be interested in posting the file for it up here, or a thingiverse link?

I just bought a k-01 on eBay and the seller didn’t mention the missing dial though it was missing in the pictures if I’d looked more carefully. Any chance this ever got off the ground? I don’t want to pay 40% of what I paid for the camera for a disk and the only other option is translucent white for some dumbass reason.

Good idea but the mode markings are a little harder to come by unless an engraver is available. A good 3D print will have those as shown, and is a great way to fab a replacement if the 3D printer facilities or equipment is available. Not quite as good as an aluminum knob with engraved markings, but a pretty good replacement.

FWIW, the translucent white one looks like it was 3d printed. There appear to be some parallel lines where the print head went back and forth on the flat surface.

(for those that want to look)
