Has anyone successfully tethered the K-01?

I can't tell if I am missing something because I am relatively new to photography and have never tethered a camera, or if there is literally no way to view photos from an external screen as I am taking them with a K-01.

Can I connect the K-01 to a computer and take photos? Can I connect it to some other device? Has anyone actually succeeded in doing this?

I don't think any sort of tethered capture is possible with the K-01, as for whatever reason the HDMI is only for playback. Other/later models have both HDMI out in live view and support USB and/or Wi-Fi tethering, however.

Adam is correct.

While hooking an HDMI cable to some enables you to use a monitor or TV while shooting this model instantly reverts to play back only mode when you hook a cable to it.

Wait, I this has been discussed and I actually tried it. Scroll down or search, I hooked mine up using a AV cable to and old portable game display (Sony PS1 I think) and it worked as a second screen, is that what you are needing?
Hey, I found it, I took a picture of it: https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/138-pentax-k-01/257846-hdmi-output.html

Yes, fantastic! I can't tell from the discussion in that thread, does this work for photographs or only in video mode?

If I remember right it's both, it basically mirrors what's on the display on the camera. Remember, it's not HDMI, the quality was not terrible though.

Is that the same as sending images with a wifi card to a desktop?

No, because it appears that the transceiver plugs into the USB port on the camera and becomes more or less a wireless USB connection and gives you access to all the tethering functions like LiveView, exposure control, timelapse etc.
