Both my K-01s have stucked shutters

Its just a black screen. It takes pictures and videos but all just black to it. Anyone else had the same experience?

Are you able to use the rear LCD to frame the photo?

I have had 5 pentax DSLR's and have never seen that before. If you take off the lens you can see the shutter there? Closed.

Mine still worked great last time I checked. The autofocus is garbage but that was part of the design. Takes great pics with the 40mm that came with it.

I believe the K-01 has a shutter rated for 100,000 shots (cmiiaw) - how many clicks has yours done?

Check Camera Shutter Count and Manufacture Date

i use it mainly for videos so the shutter count should be pretty low like in the low 10k's

My first K-01 developed an occasionally sticky shutter after about 6 years and 60k actuations. I'd turn it off then back on and it would be fine again. I've since traded it away so I don't know its current status.

Are you sure it's not set to 'display off' ?

Double click the INFO button and check.
Chances of two failed units are pretty slim..

Are you using the same battery in each, could this be a weak battery issue?

I have the same issue with my K-01. I will take a few shots and then the display in the back goes black. The camera will still try to meter, but it basically looks like the shutter is stuck. I try pressing down the shutter button, changing the battery etc. Sometimes it will free up and somestimes not. has anyone sent their K-01 for service?

would pentax have used different shutters for the K-01? Otherwise the stuck shutter issue should appear on other cameras as well ?

I've heard of such stories. Could be another solenoid issue (shutter has two).
