As for the screen being difficult to see in bright sunlight, I just grab an old, dark colored t-shirt or towel thrown over my shoulder. Need to see the screen? Put the dark cloth over my head and the rear of the camera. Works great for a few seconds, just to get the shot. Some have suggested I just leave it in place. Dorky looking photog using a (sort of) dorky looking camera!

I really like my K-01. It is a camera I keep in my vehicle to snag photos when the light is good on my way to work. Good for landscape images, not so good for action photography.

another plus, it packs light! I take it on all my trips, along with the K50.

Your K-01 looks good as new, like mine. In my opinion the materials they used for the K-01 design were really top quality and they don't seem to dent or get damaged much, even the rubber parts that people suspected would break off. The one problem seems to be the mode dial, which thankfully hasn't been a problem with mine.

My only problem is that it forgets to the date/time after a period of not being used. I think I'll ask the Ricoh service desk if they can fix that next time I go into Tokyo.
