Release date

I hope this is the right forum to ask this but I was at my local camera store and there is a K10d in the case behind the counter, I was joking around with the store manager and asked him when the price was going to drop on the camera.. his response was late Febuary or early March.. is this when we can expect the new models?.. I did ask if I should wait for the new cameras and he said it would be worth my wait but thats all he would say. He wouldnt comment on whether the new ones would have live veiw or not

I believe that the K20D and K200D will be announced early next year (end of January). The domain-names k20d.jp and k200d.jp were registered 2007-12-17 by pentax. Doesn't look like a new "super" is on its way, though this is just speculation on my part

Actually, announcement of new cameras and their release dates will be made in january.

So this pretty much confirmed the new cameras model number, despite Ben tried to threw some doubts into the mix...

Thanks for the info! An end of january release sounds appropriate, especially when considering that the current Pentax DSLR Rebates being offered is only valid on purchases through January 30th.

Now just have to hold off and see if the K10D Successor will be worth the extra quid!

I'm still confused with the naming conventions they picked. It seems a bit backwards for pentax and the industry itself. I would have expected the k5d and the k50d.

Welcome to the forum. A word of caution, IMO. The K20D is going to be in the $1,200-$1,400 range and will probably not be available until March at the earliest. If that is in your price range and you can hold off that long great. If you are looking for something less expensive you might want to do it before the rebate runs out on the K10D. My guess is the K10D won't be discontinued any time soon but the rebate will disappear and the price will jump $75-$100 over todays bargain pricing. You may be looking a a K10D body only selling for as much as $800 after January.

The K10D kit has already jumped in price. You might find it a better deal to buy the K10D body only and a better lens than the kit lens before the end of January.

Naming convention??? Ha!. If Pentax were to follow its historic pattern of model naming
the two new ones will be the J11E, and the L90C.

OK, so not that historically!!

But, for they're Kx digital line, lower numbers have been the more advanced camera.
