Dang! I've got taxed for a lens I got from Italy

I've had many lenses shipped to me (USA) from overseas . This time the lens a forum member sent to me came in fedex. The lens arrived a week or so ago, and today I got a bill for $50 from fedex for import taxes they had to pay. What a bummer!...anyone else living in the USA had to do this?

Yeah, as Adam said, EMS (USPS Express Mail) is probably your best bet next time. I've used them dozens of times without any issues. I've also had a couple things shipped to me from Canada via UPS, but both times were from commerical businesses who took care of the import tax on their end.

UPS tried that with me once. Toss it.

I'd make the arse clowns in Memphis prove it and not with one of their invoices but demonstrative proof they paid Customs.
