"VINCENT VAN GOUGH Family Tree"

If it's a tree, shouldn't that be Vincent van Bough?

This thread does not show any taste or respect.
For me using foreign names to make fun of people in your own language is childish the very least.

As you probably know the alphabet is pronounced differently in other languages.
So "van Gogh" is pronounced with a deep G sound, most native English speakers did not learn to produce. Like: [ˈteːjoː vɑnˈɣɔx]

Another true family of Vincent van Gogh is the late Theo van Gogh, who was also an artist; writer, film producer, film director and more. Theo was murdered by Mohammed Bouyeri in november 2004 because some extreme islamic principles do not mix with a world where free speech is seen as a right for all men.

You can look up the details on wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theo_van_Gogh_(film_director)

I'm asking you not to continue this thread.

One of the best things people can do is laugh at themselves occasionally and not take humour too seriously. Dutch is hardly the most beautiful or poetic language in the world so let's not get tooooooooooooo sensitive shall we? This thread is just a bit of humour and it isn't directed personally at anyone in particular - it's fine to continue. It's got absolutely bugger all to do with Mohammed Bouyeri or Theo van Gogh.

ps. Ik ben dus ook Nederlands. (I am also Dutch)

Contrary to common misconception, many of us Americans do not have English or Spanish last names. On top of that, many of us do not pronounce things exactly the same way due to regional and sub-regional dialect/accents.

Edit: Back to the reason I was originally posting, Van Gogh's Ear Cafe

Get a life! A little humor is good for the soul...and a lack of it is often why people get murdered.
I take more abuse here in any 30 minute span than is in that entire post.......and so do many others. Maybe you should be in the Romper Room......all those Pretty Colors....Soft Music, and Crayons......I do love Crayons myself, so no disrespect to Crayon users intended!
Regards!

Sorry! I just realized you Are here in the Romper Room! It was me that was in the wrong place...I though I logged into the War Room. Over there they tell me I am old and senile.......who'd have ever guessed those guys might actually get something right once in a while!
Best Regards!

Thankfully! Jonathan is sentimental but not maudlin.

Through his career Jonathan Richman has also recorded songs about Salvador Dali, Jan Vermeer and perhaps most famously a little ditty about Pablo Picasso:
