Only 9 out of the 33 drivers in the Indy 500 this year are Americans, check any road racing circuit and you'll hardly find many Americans. Why?, In the USA the money is in the ovals...if you have skills, either you can join the Oval crowd and make a living or choose road racing and starvation...the choice is clear
I beg to differ. Every person that follows the sport will cheer on their countryman.

So you are saying that all American sportsmen choose the ovals over racing for money? Well hell, if they can play football and drive a ridiculously fast car they are doing pretty well.

Nascar sucks.

Road course racers in the US aren't starving, but there are a lot fewer rides available and the lure of multi-millions in NASCAR is pretty strong.

NASCAR is challenging in its own ways, though. Not something to be written off. Look how hard it's been for Marcos Ambrose and Montoya to achieve some level of success.

No. We don't.

Wait - was the Datto 120Y built in Australia?

A 120Y can't do burnouts!

As long as this 'man' is racing and makes somewhat of a name for himself, I don't think it will matter too much if he sucks. Surely, soon enough, someone will leave Indy to go to F1.

I nearly bloody bought one for my first car actually. With a neck jerking 50kw on tap you would need to oil up the tires..

Sold here as the Datsun B210. I remember a car magazine calling it "the Atomic Cockroach". (I only know because I saw it on Top Gear.)

Ah, the B210 - "Drive a Datsun, Then Decide." A friend of mine had one and a Google search reminded me that appreciation of the styling was an acquired taste. All I recall about the car is that I was unimpressed - but I can't remember why.

It's not that bad looking. I'd drive one just to have it.

Is it worth the taxes Jer?

I know they have been thinking about cancelling the Melbourne GP for some time and i'll be definitely sad to see it go. Apparently Russia or India is on the cards.

Gee, Carl, you're asking the wrong guy - apparently the state guys think it's worth the shot. I just would like to have F1 in Austin for my own selfish reason: I'd really like to see a Grand Prix race in an easily accessible (for selfish me) location. I will say that Austin could be a pretty decent venue, allowing folks to combine the race with other activities. Austin, itself, is a cool, funky place and San Antonio, a delightful city with its River Walk and other attractions, is only short drive away. Also, there's the Hill Country with it's parks and interesting little towns.

Anyway, for both Texas taxpayers and F1 fans, I hope this thing is a success.
