Memorial Day

Hope you all have a safe Memorial Day.

Let's not forget those who have given all so that we can enjoy the freedoms we have.

God Bless.

George and Mike - thanks for posting these great thoughts, which I echo. It's also worth remembering those of our allies who've fallen along with our troops in common cause.

Same here. And if you don't have any flags to pull out of the closet, please consider buying one.

My supposedly all-American neighborhood is a disgrace when it comes to displaying the colors.

Yeah, a worthy holiday for sure.

Let's also give thanks to the generations of Indy 500 drivers who have given us such awesome spectacles.

I agree, let's remember all veterans on Memorial Day, especially those that gave all for their country. (USN, 1964-1968).

p.s., you can remember me also if you want to, as May 30th will be my 67th birthday.

I am trying to forget you actually.

Just kidding. Happy Birthday buddy.

And this is the day of remembrance for those who gave all they had.

Veterans Day is for those who came back.

Was this a little jab? I know the difference in holidays. Even you should comprehend that "giving all they had", means they were in service, and were therefore veterans.

Not a jab at all.

A lot of people forget what it means to give all they had. Most of us consider Veterans those of you who are no longer on duty. And yes, I appreciate all of you who went when I couldn't.

P.S. Happy Birthday, again, you old coot.

Memorial Day

Just returned from a visit to Jefferson Barracks Military Cemetary/Park
here in St.Louis, this morning. (my dad sleeps there amoung many others)
The Boy Scouts in the area have spent the past few days placing our
national flag next to every headstone. Im sure with almost 140,000
headstones there, it was somewhat overwhelming when they began.
Those young folks did a splendid job and it is just beautiful.
To those ladies and gentelmen who participated, I would like to offer
a sincere and heartfelt thanks.

To our veterans, whose daily, selfless devotion to duty is common practice
Thank you and gods speed

I honor all those veterans who have put their lives on the line for this country.
And I despise those politicians who play games with servicemembers's lives.
I speak of the prior president, a coward and deserter, and his staff of dodgers.
I speak of all those who would exploit 'patriotism' as they grub for power.
Honor the troops; support the troops; imprison the mis-leaders.
