I ran across that a few weeks ago and came away hoping that there's a special spot reserved for him in Hell.

I was so upset I sent him an email. He wrote a nice response and told me the lens had numerous problems -- fungus, a big dent, chipped elements, etc. It was not usable or even fixable. So in a sense he was putting it out of its misery I guess.

I sort of guessed that must be the case, and my original opinion regarding a reserved seat in Hell was formed with that in mind and still stands.
