It's tough as a parent to see your kids hurt, but on the other hand, weren't these "try outs" - which means someones not going to make it (70 kids tried out and they only needed 17....hmmmmmm......do the math)

I read an article not too long ago called "Everybody gets a Trophy" which basically stated that we've become a society that celebrates mediocrity at the expense of teaching our kids that sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. It's how you act after you win/lose and what you do about it, that is the important part.

Oh well, I guess G20 protests are over so the news is looking for something else to sensationalize.

I got cut from my little league baseball team. I got over it. I took up swimming as a sport, which I did very well. Failing to make the cut is a part of life. The parents action in this lawsuit is doing the kids far more harm. Somebody wins, somebody looses. Thats sports. Loosing makes you work harder. Many superstar players in pro sports mention that they were cut from their varsity teams during their school years. It made them work harder. If the kids love the game of hockey, they will work harder and try again next year. I wonder if this is more about the parents egos than the kids. My youngest competed in rowing for many years. Some seasons she lost her seat in the boat. That's life. Work harder and get it back.
