Hot enough for ya?

It's been a hot one so far, eh? (Hottest six months on record, actually, but I mean the weather across the US lately. )

From The Netherlands, the middle part: hot days here, too. We sleep in the attic of our house, temperature is up to 28 Celsius (don't know your F.), the kids sleep one floor down, but yes, hot here too. No airco, most of the year temp is quite acceptable, but when hot, humidity usely is high. Long for winter again, like it, when temperatures are low. Something to do with my age, I guess. But then again, I have always preferred the colder days. Heavily cropped, sorry, but look at this guy:

This has actually been one of the mildest summers in California.

Hasn't got over 100 degrees once where I am.

It has been hotter here previously than it is now. Triple digits for a month straight. I'll take the mid to high 80s any time over that. To answer your specific question, yes, it's hot enough, would like it to be a little cooler. Say, mid 70s would be nice.

Good grief. I'm so freakin' sick of the heat and humidity. I pulled out some prints I made of a couple shots of "Snowmageddon." I miss snow.

So we we tripped around the hot Four Corners area for a few weeks -- Grand Canyon, Hopi, Santa Fe, Mesa Verde, etc. We strolled Sedona (4000 ft) with temps regularly ~100f, similar in Santa Fe (7000 ft); as long as we stayed in shade and sucked-up gatorade, all was fine. We stayed far from the boiling toilet bowl that is Phoenix. But Mesa Verde had too little shade, too much dust. Argh.

We evacuated back to California, to the central Sierra Nevada Mtns (3500 ft), and temps are still around 100f. But we daren't walk around here at midday, even in shade. Pollen, dust, smog from Sacramento, generally cruddy air that worsened visibly when rolling west across Nevada. We're third-generation California but we're ready to move to Santa Fe. Or maybe another extended stay in the highlands of Chiapas and Guatemala.

[Culinary tip: Eat at Big Ed's BBQ in Fallon, Nevada. Great stuff and lots of it!]

Is it hot enough yet? Do we need a couple weeks of 120f+ in the Sacramento - San Joaquin Valley, with power failures, to kill off a large portion of the population responsible for the sludgey air? Oops, bad attitude. Yes, it's hot enough. It would be nice if the California Heat Engine kicked in strongly, cycling cool moist coastal air into the interior valleys every few days. Hot valley air rises, pulling in coastal air that fogs/cools the valleys and clears/warms the coast, until the coast cools and the valleys heat up again and the cycle continues. We need more of that.

Yes, it's hot enough now. We've other things to do tomorrow, but the day after we'll roll uphill to Carson Pass (8500+ ft) and stroll a bit along the Pacific Crest. Hopefully we'll be above the misery level. No use going on to Lake Tahoe (7000 ft), that's just another smog bowl in this season. Welcome to Global Warming.

HOT!

I WANT SNOW!

Autumn, winter, spring are all magical seasons fit for humans.

Summer is fit for nothing at all.

PentaxMom, 28 degrees C is 82 degrees Fahrenheit. Not a bad temp for daytime high but lousy for sleeping!

I read recently that the brutal heat wave we've been experiencing in the East Coast of the US as well as in other parts of the world is attributable to a transition from an El Nino to a La Nina in the Pacific Ocean. Not that that makes me feel any cooler.

Yes, it is hot enough! I just spent the weekend riding down in VA/NC/TN on a fully-faired motorcycle.

This beast - 1700cc and nearly 900 pounds of steel and rubber and plastic - lets very little air flow to the rider. That might be nice in the winter, but with temps and humidity in the 90s, I was toasting in my protective gear. I borrowed another rider's Kewlvest for a spell and it helped. But make no mistake, IT'S HOT

Been pretty damn hot out here. Our little window-mounted A/C unit can't keep up, alas.
