However we do have to check ourselves in the process - why does God have to have parents? If God was, is and will forever be, then there is no doubt about who He is. But that's only scratching the surface - there are SO many unknowns (to us) that we could never work out or find out about this thing called life, but just as there is no certainty about what happens in the future, how long we'll live or even when we'll come down with the common cold, we should appreciate that we can never know all the answers.
The concept of God should not be used to just 'fill that void', it's a poor excuse for faith. There has to be a lot more to one's conviction than that...
Ash, I was ten years old. No, my current concept of God does not involve parents.
I believe my point is actually similar to yours. There are so many unknowns, and pointing to unknowns is not proof or disproof of God. I was merely pointing out that acceptance of the idea of God does not remove all uncertainties. Also adding the concept of eternity does not really add much, because both the theist and atheist view of the formation of the world have to account for some kind of eternal state.
