I need your help with Pentax water bottle equipment reccomendations.

I am trying to decide wether or not to get the black, stainless steel Pentax water bottle, or the red plastic one. The black one is 6 oz smaller (24 oz) and $20, the other is 30 oz and costs $12, but is plastic and doesn't have the cool carry loop the black one has.

I'm mainly going to be taking it to work, but it'd be nice as a drink bottle in the field as well.

So, which should I get?

If you are considering the plastic one, make sure its BPA free. I would go with the metal one though.

Have you looked at any third party water bottles, possibly one made by Sigma or Tamron?

I've heard the colors of the third-part water bottles aren't as nice

I would so get a Pentax lens thermos.

I wouldn't use the Nikon one, though. My coffee would always come out darker than I'd hoped.

The metal one says it's BPA Free (probably talking about the cap), but the plastic one makes no such claim.

Also, I made a mistake. The red one is 32 ounces.

The metal being BPA free also refers to the liner not using BPA. A lot of stainless steel bottles have a plastic liner, so if you're concerned about BPA you need to be aware that there can be BPA in the plastic liner of metal bottles. In this case, it sounds like the metal one doesn't have any (BPA).

Ironic timing, this just popped up on our local craigslist.

Well since the DA*60-250 doesn't zoom internally, would the DA*60-250 coffee thermos be able to change size to accomodate different amounts of liquids? Set it to "250" when you have a lot to drink and back it back off the "60" for less?

It would seem to me that the cap would be a significant consideration. If you have to turn it 5 times in order to remove it could be aggravating when you're really thirsty in the middle of a shoot: a 180 or 270 degree throw is really preferable.

I have a bayonet mount glass bottle in my office (Arizona brand Sweet Tea) with a 90 degree throw on it...seems a shame to spend all that money to go backwards to a screw mount.

I have the black one, and it's pretty small, IMO. I'd get the bigger, plastic one.

I read the black cap is not compatible with expected FF bottles to be announced next month.

...this kind of thread, either love it and participate or sober up and go home.

Funny thread title is no longer funny.

Thanks, though, Adam, for your input. I think I may end up buying both, deciding having used them, and passing on the reject to my Fiancee.

If I am going to choose, I'm leaning towards the black bottle for it's BPA-free stainless construction and hoop thing. Being able to hang it from my belt or a camera bag seems like a great feature.

The Red bottle's added capacity seems a poor trade-off.

Which do you think keeps heat/cold better?
