Rally's worth going to... ;)

Jon Stewart Announces DC 'Rally to Restore Sanity' | PopEater.com
QuoteQuote:
In contrast with Glenn Beck's recent religious-y rally on Washington, where signs were openly discouraged, the Comedy Central funnyman urges marchers to go to town. He suggested a couple ideas, including "I Disagree With You, But I'm Pretty Sure You're Not Hitler," and "Take It Down a Notch, America."

The rally, which he also dubbed the 'Million Moderate March,' will lean heavy on comedy, of course. Stewart's "rival," Stephen Colbert, bum-rushed the show to announce that he too would hold his own rally nearby for "all freedom-loving patriots" to challenge the "dark, optimistic forces" of Stewart and the 'Daily Show.'

He later said on the 'Colbert Report' that in order to "fight Jon Stewart's creeping reasonableness" and "restore truthiness" he will lead the 'March to Keep Fear Alive' in the same exact spot on the same day as his Comedy Central colleague.

In its statement, Comedy Central promised a face-off between Stewart and Colbert that will be "bigger than Nixon/Kennedy, Ali/Foreman, Aniston/Jolie, 50/Nas, Joe/the Volcano, Alien/Predator, Bunny/Fudd and Ecks/Sever combined."
We need Clinton:

America, the Greatest Country God ever gave Man, was built on three bedrock principles: Freedom. Liberty. And Fear -- that someone might take our Freedom and Liberty. But now, there are dark, optimistic forces trying to take away our Fear -- forces with salt and pepper hair and way more Emmys than they need. They want to replace our Fear with reason. But never forget -- "Reason" is just one letter away from "Treason." Coincidence? Reasonable people would say it is, but America can't afford to take that chance.

So join The Rev. Sir Dr. Stephen T. Colbert, D.F.A. on October 30th for the "March to Keep Fear Alive"™ in Washington DC. Pack an overnight bag with five extra sets of underwear -- you're going to need them. Because, to Restore Truthiness we must always... Shh!!! What's that sound?! I think there's someone behind you! Run!

"I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to take it anymore!"

Who among us has not wanted to open their window and shout that at the top of their lungs?

Seriously, who?

Because we're looking for those people. We're looking for the people who think shouting is annoying, counterproductive, and terrible for your throat; who feel that the loudest voices shouldn't be the only ones that get heard; and who believe that the only time it's appropriate to draw a Hitler mustache on someone is when that person is actually Hitler. Or Charlie Chaplin in certain roles.

I know it sounds amazing but I actually maybe possibly agree with John Stewart that America has become so marginaized that all we do is shout at one another instead of listening heck it happens here afterall. So I agree in principle as long as the rally is an equal oppurtunity attacker on both parties not just a one sided hatchet job on the Republicans and the conservatives.

Well, given the way his show usually treats stupidity from either side of the aisle, you should be safe.

John Paulson and the other filthy rich Hedge Fund managers that turned Wall Street into the World's Largest Casino and caused this recession are laughing their asses off watching the clueless Tea Party fight for them to keep the billions they stole.

Have to add this... o/t

my thread...
QuoteQuote:
Clinton lamented that "a distinguished former governor of Delaware was beaten tonight by the so-called tea party candidate" because enough primary voters had accepted a "new narrative" promoted by the extreme right. "They’re saying that Barack Obama represents the spearhead of this vast socialist conspiracy to have government swallow up the fabric of American life and he’s going to crush our individualism, and our freedom, and the vitality of small business ... They tell us that they they represent America the way it used to be, self-reliant, virtuous individuals and small businesses. And the truth is, what they want to do is dismantle government so corporations, big corporations will control our destiny."

The former president said that over the past year, "their party has moved closer to Michele Bachmann. Look, in Utah a very conservative senator, Bob Bennett, was defeated for one reason -- because he dared to sponsor a healthcare plan with a Democrat, Ron Wyden. And he did that because he looked at the evidence, that this country was going to be killed economically if we didn’t begin to control healthcare costs."

The Republican Party had changed, said Clinton, during the course of his own lifetime. "It’s a very different Republican Party from the one I grew up with," he said, a change that began "when they foresaked their founder, Abraham Lincoln" to chase segregationist voters in the South. Republican traditions favored private initiative and smaller government, but if the nation needed federal action, the Republicans supported it. He recited a litany of landmark Republican programs, from Lincoln’s creation of the land-grant college system to Theodore Roosevelt’s anti-trust reforms to Eisenhower’s construction of the Interstate Highway System.

"For the past 30 years they’ve been telling us that government is the problem and the destruction of government is the solution," said Clinton, "and now I think they’ve gotten to the point where they actually believe it ... It’s very important to our country that we don’t go that way. You can’t be impervious to evidence or you’ll get into trouble."

I especially like the idea of "I disagree with you but I'm pretty sure you are not Hitler."

You aren't Hitler, are you, Jon? No, I didn't think so.

W/e. Stewart and Colbert are just two bigots. Colbert said in 2006 how they both 'make fun of' republicans more because the republicans were in power in the senate, house and President. It'd be 'like kicking a child.' So what happened? It's been two years

---------- Post added 09-18-10 at 12:22 PM ----------

years since the senate and house are democrate controlled and way over a year with the president. What hapened to that child? With the amount of picking on republicans still, they'd both be charged with child abuse by now! They just need to admit they're

both part of the liberal hate machine and quit lying it's only about jokes. It's just more liberal propaganda and I could care less about their 'rally'.

They make fun of idiots and idiotic actions impartially. Ain't their fault there are more idiots and idiotic stories on the red side.

Anyway I don't see how you can not be behind the idea of this rally.

The next day will be even more insane as it's the Marine Corps Marathon. And since it's on halloween I imagine even more runners than usual will be in costumes.
