Either there's the 'what's true for you may not be true for me' mantra, or the more straight-forward 'absolute truth exists' position, which mandated God to be introduced into the picture.

Why would absolute truth mandate God? And no I'll still not bother to read the entire thread... but a theoretical physicist would definitely say there's an absolute truth out there, for example, and perhaps add that our task as humans is to adjust our thought to that truth. And then you have the Buddhist truth of life as suffering. And several flavors of a mystical truth - which may be the subjective version of the physicist's objective truth - which also may make use of a God concept, or not.
