So my 2 Part Question - Is there absolute truth and who decides.

The Title says it all. Is truth relative? Or is it not.

Truth must be absolute. It is only the interpretation of its meaning that is relative.

Who decides? Each person decides what is true for them in their own life. So while there is absolute truth each person perceives it through their world view and additionally must decide whether he accepts this truth and the perception, or rejects it outright and replaces it with some fallacious fantasy.

Precisely.

Though there is one actual truth, one or both of our perceptions of it may lead us to patently incorrect conclusions and would definitely be quite different from me to you.

Oh boy - this topic again.
I have no doubt truth is absolute, but we may not know the truth to realise it is absolute - then as mentioned personal interpretation leads us to question whether a fact is absolutely true...

But watch out, I can see a debate brewing - moral relativism will start to creep in here and challenge this 'short-sighted' thinking...

Pilate himself asked "What is truth?" in John 18:38

But trying to prove truth is relative is like trying to prove there's no God:
Joe: "There is no such thing as abolute truth."
Mary: "Are you sure?"
Joe: "Yes I am."
Mary: "Are you absolutely sure about that?"
Joe: "Er, yes, I mean, no - well, maybe."

thanks for the reply, so you're saying between two individuals, either one could be wrong, could be right, or both could be wrong in regards to truth.

i personally believe there to be absolute truths. and it's not a matter of personal interpretation.
absolute truth is bascially a synonym for the way things really are. on a side note, if a person
believes that there is no absolute truth, that is a contradiction in itself. Why? Because the

I think the moment you ask that question, it becomes about *words,* and words aren't 'absolute.' (Except of course, by their own definitions.)

It's kind of like captioning a photo you haven't seen.

But 1+1 *isn't* always 2. Numbers are just shapes. (Not unlike the Platonic solids) While I'm making meatballs, I take one meatball, I add it to another meatball, I get one bigger meatball.

1+1=1.

Oh, but it's a bigger meatball, right? OK. If I add 1 meatball diameter to 1 meatball diameter, how big is my meatball? Two meatball diameters? Nope. Again, 1+1 is not 2. Or 1.

In fact, you could *pulverize* this meatball, and sift through every atom, but you would never find *this:*

1+1=3. Meatball 1, Meatball 2, and the third meatball that came about when I mushed them together.

As we say in my kitchen, 'Thatsa spicy meatballa!'

They're numbers, but 'Absolute Truth?' Not convinced.
