Two hotel workers have been arrested after tourists renewing their wedding vows at a luxury resort in the Indian Ocean were branded "infidels" and "swine" during the ceremony, according to reports.

Amateur video of the incident in the Maldives shows a celebrant abusing the couple in the Dhivehi tongue — as the bride and groom smile oblivious to what is being said. The footage has been viewed by thousands of people since being posted on YouTube.

"Your marriage is not a valid one," the man says, according to a translation obtained by the BBC. "You are not the kind of people who can have a valid marriage. One of you is an infidel.

"The other, too, is an infidel — and we have reason to believe — an atheist, who does not even believe in an infidel religion.

"You fornicate and make a lot of children. You drink and you eat pork. Most of the children that you have are marked with spots and blemishes. These children that you have are b******s."

According to the BBC, the celebrant also refers to sexual diseases and bestiality. Comments are also made about the bride's breasts and the pair are described as "swine."

Wonder how many people he has done this to who never had their ceremony translated? Funny too how he did not have the courage to say these things in a language the couple understood. What a coward! Guess the money means far more to him than his purported religious convictions.
