CL K-x scam?

A number of nearly identical posts are floating around on regional Craigslist sites; I spotted it 6 or 7 times here in the Midwest alone from Iowa to Michigan:

"I am seeking to sell a top-quality Pentax K-X DSLR in awesome condition. This unique digital SLRspecifications a massive 2.7" Liquid crystal screen, super 12.4 mp, first rate CMOS image sensor, terrific face detection up to 16 faces, first class wide-screen High-def video capture, really good highly streamlined SLR body layout and fabulous lightwieght, good modes and options, exceptionalshots quality, wonderful battery life, prime 4.7 FPS capture speed, ultimately a first-class 18-55mm lens. This D-SLR shoots excellent photographs and it's in very good condition. If you have offers make sure you email me I also have pixs with inquire."

Asking price is either $149 or $150 and it sure seems like a classic example of "if it sounds too good to be true..."

Or he left out the part about it getting hit by a train.

Brad

Definitely a scam. The same ad has shown up in my area from time to time.

How would this be paid? I suppose a Western Union transfer or some such is typical for a scam.

100% scam. Same ad pops up all over craigslist, usually in multiple cities at once.

Yup. The ad is in multiple cities all over craigslist. Just for kicks, you should reply and see if the seller will respond. This K-x is probably somewhere in Nigeria

The potential downside, even if you don't send them money, if they have your email address, which is then typically sold.

So in general, if you're unsure if something is a scam or not, it's best to use an email address you don't care about to reply to the ad. I have a seperate email address that I use to reply to people I am unsure about when I list stuff on craigslist as I have found 50-75% of the "buyers" that reply to me on craigslist are scam-artists as well.
