You aren't gifted with some special ability to do math. Many other people came to the same conclusion you did. At the same time, add in a number of gaps to the pentax lens line up that Pentax isn't interested in filling, and you have a run on the good old glass. As prices for that start to rise, more and more frugal shooters compete for the limited quantities of affordable used glass that is ok.
A lot of people who purchased cheap good old glass know what they have and are holding on to it as they know they can't trade it away and trade back for it later anymore.
Eventually demand will drop, or the cheap used glass won't be cheap, and then you will REALLY start to see people complain about Pentax's limited lens lineup compared to bigger competitors.
