Sarah Palin

Can somebody explain to me why the whole of America is agog with Sarah Palin and whatever she say's is shouted from coast to coast? Why has the "seal of approval" from Sarah caused Governers and GOP candidates to be elected?

This is a serious question and not another excuse for anti Palin rhetoric which is similarly universally available.

I am genuinely interested in this question because I have never seen or heard her say anything remarkable or anything that warrants the attention that she gets (and the power that she has) in US Politics. Pundits will criticize her but politicians seem to be uneasy in even discussing her "ideas" seriously.

Is the only thing that sets the US political wheel spinning so wildly an attractive woman - surely not!

Surely. look at pelosi, clinton, delauro, - very very powerful women who have done very very large things. Not speaking to if they were good or bad, that's not what I am trying to talk about. My point is, regardless of your view, they all have done very large things in their lives.

The things palin says, like you said, are not taken seriously amongst those that actually have power to do things; on both sides of the fence. The goal of her in the public eye now, and ever since she came up during the elections, is to cause controversy and to get people heated up, not necessarily about the right things but heated none the less.

Shes just a face republicans tried to push as a republican alternative to the Democatric women in power i.e. hilary clinton, nancy pelosi etc. Although said women have done very big things and have a very large track record in comparison. She was picked as running with mccain as 'hey, look at us, we have a woman on our side of the fence too. Women, you should feel empowered to vote for us'. Remember in 2008 that was the demographic that wasn't budging from voting democratic, as well as minorites. She proved within that time, unlike say Biden, to be a very powerful speaker. Does the things she say not make sense? well, does it matter if what she says get people going? that's why she is still around, shes doing a good job doing what she does, even though what she does doesn't make any sense and ultimately doesnt matter to people with power. The point is to get voters. regardless of if it makes sense or not.

Think of it like how replicans tried to push Bobby Jindal as the republican alternative to Obama after his election to office; but then Jundal didn't turn out as they expected after his post-presidential election speech. I would say they compare to the T as far as what demographic they are trying to grab....the idea of men liking her just for the sake of attractiveness I imagine is just the fallout. And, anyways, i have to question if many men really think she is attractive or if that is just a subtle advertisement and people just say that because that's what some others say.

Excuse me, but just as many, if not more of us, are "AGAG" with her as are "AGOG" with her. Frankly she scares the crud out of me because if she wins she will make George Bush seem like the Good Humour Man.

p.s. I will NOT be watching her stupid TV show...

...actually Sarah's political pull is less than what's advertised, after all the Senate candidate she specifically set out to defeat in her home state, Alaska, won as a write in candidate over Sarah's pick. That is, instead of pushing a lever or something similar, anyone wanting to vote for Murkowski had to write the name correctly and legibly on the ballot.

It is interesting that this isn't being trumpeted around as a big setback for Sarah.

I can not. Nor for her odd-spring. Sorry, I mean off-spring. Nor for British royalty, for that matter.

I watched the first episode. You have decided not to watch any.
All I can say is that your instincts are better than mine.

Oh Jim... I am so disappointed in you... LOL I guess sometimes curiosity about girls with guns gets the best of even the smartest folks...

As for Murkowski's (doesn't seem that hard a name to spell to me...LOL) victory... it's technically not final yet. Once it is, I do believe the trumpets will blare... I don't really know much about her, but I get the feeling she is pretty honest as politicians go... especially when compared to Miller.

The news this morning made an interesting point about Murkowski. (assuming she is in fact the winner).
She will not owe any party anything. The Tea Party and Democrats ran against her, and the Republican party didn't support her.
This means it is theoretically possible that between the two houses of Congress there may be a grand total of one member that isn't somebody else's puppet.

Murkowski has already said she will remain a republican... but if I were her I'd poke my finger in Boehner's eye at least a couple of times to make sure he remembers I won without his or "the party's" help.
