Is it getting harder to sell gear on this forum?

I used to have no trouble selling gear here. But I just posted a K-x and an FA50/1.4, and haven't had a nibble. I researched prices beforehand, and I think what I'm asking is fair for each item. $415 for the K-x + 18-55 kit, which is almost brand new (1500 clicks), and $300 for the FA50, which is also in mint condition. Prices include shipping and Paypal.

In the past I'd get several inquiries within a few days of posting. Not happening so far. Is it harder to sell gear here now, or are my prices just too high?

I think a lot of the newcomers believe the forum is a bargain basement or that they should receive lower than market prices, what they do not realize is the quality is always better buying from the Forum

I thinks so, but besides getting lucky with Craigslist or facebook, the other option is evilBay but then you have to pay a bunch of fees. So when buying my money is on the forum, but when selling I post my stuff in CL, here, and facebook, and then wait.... if I need to sell fast it goes to eBay as an auction...

Yes, I'd be interested to hear about this too.

Anyone had luck with FredMiranda.com? Canon and Nikon sells like hotcakes there, but I don't see much Pentax gear. Couldn't hurt to try, though - it's free.

The sad thing is I'll pos something for sale here, inevitably end up selling on eBay at a higher price to cover the fees. I would love to tell prospective buyers there to hit up the forum for a free discount, but obviously that isn't kosher! I much prefer to sell to other members than a random ebayer.

Yes... and your earlier quick sales suggest your prices were seen as too low at the time. Keep in mind that everything for sale is overpriced until it sells. If your unsold item is not considered overpriced by your prospects... it would be sold!

Price is everything... (even free)!

Cheers...

Switters, wish I would have known you had a K-x for that price a few months ago, you would have saved me $50!

A few months ago it would have been $50 dearer as it was newer.

it may be a sign of the times, economy wise.

COnsidering the crash in the S&L and economy 2 years ago, I am suprised that used equipment has done as well as it has.

Price and timing is everything. Adjust your price, and/or hang out, and you'll get a bite, i'm sure.

I used to be taken aback at the apparent premium afforded to gear listed here, but after hanging out for a while, I also noticed great deals and rare items usually not available anywhere else.

I also think the new, cheap 35mm f2.4 lens is taking a bite out of all wide/normal lens sales on the forum. I think all 28mm -55mm prime sales have been impacted by this inexpensive lens. With this new 35mm around, you have to offer a lens at a price others can't refuse, or simply put em back on the shelf until the next wave of Takumar-mania strikes.

I see FA50 at BH listed for 359$. If this is right, if i would be in the States, no offence, but i would go 59$ more for a new one with warranty.
