Here's mine...

2005 Schwinn Mesa GSD. Not a fantastic bike by any measure but at least everything has a quality name to it.
Frame: 15" (small)
Wheels: WTB Speeddisc
Tyres: Kenda Small Block 8 2.35 front, Specialized Rhythm 2.3 rear
Brakes: Hayes MX2 cable disc
Drive: Shimano Alivio
Crank: Truvativ Isoflow
Forks: Manitou Six (probably the most bleh component, but got better things to spend money on than upgrade)

Yup -

"The Daily Commute" - 16-20 miles per week, year round.

"The Fun Ride" - when I've got more time (and usually not in the rain)

That's nuthin. Riding to school (2 or 3 days a week), is 22km a day (about 14 miles).

I used to do triathlons. Cycled to work 3 days per week 30km about 45-50 minutes, different route home in afternoon 50 - 100km, around 90km or so I would start to get bored. Tried a criterion but those are murder on the body and the bike.

Until two years ago, when I was run over by a 16 tonne truck and nearly killed, I was racing bikes (Road) and riding 150 - 250 km/week (95-155 miles). I have more-or-less recovered but my Colnago did not!

I've since bought another road bike but only ride short distances these days.

My current bike is all an carbon fibre Argon 18 'Krypton' (Canadian made) with Shimano Dura Ace running gear - if only I was as good as my bike!

Thanks for answering guys, I guess there are a few. I use to do more cycling in the 70s but not so much anymore. I'm not a racer or bike enthusiast but recently decided to clean-up and maintain one of my nephew's bikes - its lighter than the usual bikes, so I could go on trails in the different Parks within 2 or 3 hour drive of where I live.

Of course, for this I decided I will need a rack. I was shown the Saris Bone yesterday - nice design, heavy-duty but light and lifetime warranty. The price ain't bad either.

What I need to decide now is, which equipment I should pack - I always end up taking too much.

Again, thanks for replying.

Another biker here - I have a 7 km commute to school which I do until there are scary snow banks. I used to race, but I'm a complete mountain bike convert now. Our potholes are scary, I prefer the more solid ride! I manage to fit in a little recreational riding, too.

I own a bike! I ride once and a while, mostly to pull the trailer for my little one, or the 3rd wheel for the bigger one. We do family rides around the neighborhood.... sometimes riding to the store, etc. I ride to work on "Bike to Work Day"

When I was in college, it was my main transportation....

I guess the next question is - ever go out carrying photo gear?

Here in Holland we have more bicycles than people, and it is a crowded place...
To meet the standard our family of 4 persons owns 6 bikes, which probably meets the average around here.

But that's because they get stolen a lot in places like Amsterdam We have the same in cities like Leuven here in Belgium

Anyways, I own a Specialized Allez 24 racing bike (same brand as the Quick-Step protour team this year, but a much cheaper model and I didn't buy it because of this) since april this year.

I try to ride as much as possible (to work if weather isn't to bad or during the week-ends with a buddy).
