I'm not Swedish, but Danish and a woman, so I suppose I'll join this.

I find the timing incredibly suspiscious here too. It is simply unbelievably convenient for the people trying to discredit Assange. That said, it isn't a pretty story regardless of interpretation, and it makes me doubt I would find him very likable at the personal level - but being unsympathetic is not a crime!

And I like the Swedish law, which is similar to the Danish in this respect: Consent is a prerequisite of sex, regardless of the circumstances. But in cases like this I find it incredibly unlikely that the women would be able to prove their case, having asked him home in the first place and consented to the first part of the interactions.
