This WILL make you laugh!

Unless you've been living under a rock for the past few years, you know about text messaging. With the technology to check our spelling as we type comes the possibility of correctly spelled messages with totally incorrect words. For some great examples, go here:

Damn You Auto-Correct!

That reminded me, some of you might remember too, of the hilarious lists floating around back in the fledgling years of spel chukers [sic] built into word processors.
You had to double proof read everything, and the correction alone took 3 times as long.

That predictive garbage in mobile phones is really over the top though. No wonder SMS helped give birth to a whole generation of lower-case truncating basic punctuation-challenged illitroids [sic], who achieve great education standards yet can't communicate in any comprehensible written form.

.R. <-- the uneducated illitrit [sic].

It's kind of like some bizarre form of reverse-censorship. They'll overdub the Breakfast Club on TV, but text a breakfast club sandwich order and it'll turn into *you* saying something very very nasty.

I like older technologies, where any humiliation I heap upon myself is my own damn fault.

I did texting on my first cellphone, 8 years ago. Subscribed to the Haiku-A-Day club, and some of my entries got auto-corrected into rather strange forms. Hey, for poetry, it can be really inspirational, helping you delve into hitherto unexplored realms. Just don't get caught.
